RLP Fire Department School

The fire department's responsibilities don't just include fighting fires, but a great deal more, as well. A fireman is a rescuer in all situations, able to rescue, protect and retrieve under the widest variety of conditions – including under water, for example.

At the Rheinland-Pfalz Fire Department and Civil Protection School in Koblenz, special fire department divers are trained, for whom corresponding conditions must be simulated for exercise purposes.

This occurs in a 12-meter high stainless steel tank, which serves as a diving tower for training. Here, the firemen learn to weld defective pipes and tanks under water or to dispose of toxic and environmentally hazardous substances. This also means that the diving tower must be very durable and, in particular, must have the right technology: thanks to Ospa filter technology, the water treatment and maintenance is managed reliably and comprehensively, even under extreme conditions.
